Are you interested in starting a theatre night at your restaurant or tavern? Be sure to read this important information before you begin...

Before you start a Theatre Night MAKE SURE that your business is not in a township or county that has a more stringent version of the smoking ban than the state has.  If you are in such a locality, you may not be able to host a Theater Night.  If you have any doubts check with an attorney.  Here is a listing of localities that have their own smoking ban:
http://www.health.state.mn.us/divs/eh/indoorair/mciaa/ordinances.html

If you are in Hennepin County you cannot legally have a Theatre Night. If you are in Albert Lea  the Albert Lea ordinance on "theatrical productions" would normally require you to get a license from the city.  However, if your play promotes agricultural products, then you should be exempt from the license requirement.

About the Tavern League of Minnesota

Our Mission Statement

To increase the value of our members’ investment by fighting legislation that could be harmful to their business. We consistently search for ways to increase our members’ profit and decrease their expenses. We strive to provide impeccable customer service. Every call will be returned. No question will go unanswered. Our members always come first.

The Tavern League of MN provides benefits, both tangible and intangible, that exceed our members annual cost of membership.

Over the past six years the Tavern League of MN has been saving Minnesota taverns and restaurants literally thousands of dollars each year. We fought smoking bans at the local, county, and state levels. We fight wine-in-grocery stores. We fight against ignition interlocks. We are the reason that Minnesota was the last state to enact its laws on .08 blood alcohol content.

The Tavern League of Minnesota (TLoM), originally known as the Wine, Beer & Spirits Federation of MN, was formed in September of 2000 by a group of hospitality veterans who were concerned about fighting threatening legislative issues such as Wine in Grocery Stores, Direct Shipment, .08 BAC, Smoking Bans at the local and state level, and other issues detrimental to our industry. The feeling was and is that if we organize more efficiently as an industry with a combined effort we can make our voices heard at all levels of government.

You need an association that is not afraid to fight for you, even when the odds seem stacked against you. You need an association that cares what happens to your business and your bottom line.

You need powerful and respected lobbyists that have influence at the legislature.

And you need an association with a proven track record leading the fight on issues that include:

     * Lowering blood alcohol content (BAC) levels

     * Smoking bans

     * Video pull tabs

     * Wine in grocery stores

     * Ignition interlocks

     * Credit card chargeback

     * Allowance of charitable gambling bar operations
